Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino has distanced himself from speculations linking him to the Barcelona job, as the pressure continues to mount on Blaugrana boss, Luis Enrique.
Enrique has been under increased scrutiny this season as Barcelona continue to struggle for consistency band identity under his managerial reign. This has prompted reports of Pochettino being linked to the job, but the Argentine says his mind is with Tottenham, and that he has no interest in taking over at the Camp You.
Speaking ahead of his side’s first leg Europa League Round of 32 clash away at Gent, he said as quoted by Daily Mail, when asked about the situation with Barcelona:
“I can’t say anything about that,’ I’m at Tottenham. I am very happy, four more years of contract, and enjoying an exciting project. It’s true it’s not an easy project, but I’m very happy here.
” Enrique is expected to leave the Catalan club this summer after stalling on a new deal, and it is believed his methods are said to be draining his players, meaning that there is always a chance for Pochettino.
The former Espanyol manager has impressed in his time at White Hart Lane, establishing the club as serious title challengers and being able to mix it with the bigger clubs, who seemingly have better finances and resources.
He is interested in a long term project at Tottenham and has extended the contracts of his best years, as Tottenham look set to move to a new era when they move into their new stadium in 2018.
