Klopp want to complete signing for Timo Werner

Armed with a huge war-chest to make the necessary signings this summer, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is planning to strengthen his squad and has already been linked with a number of players.

The Merseysiders secured a return to the Champions League for next season and Klopp is aware of the necessity to add more depth to his side with more titles to compete for next term out.

The German coach is on the lookout for a talented striker after depending on a false nine system of attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho for a large part of last season, and now Klopp is being linked with a move for RB Leipzig hit man Timo Werner.

According to the Independent, the €39 million rates German forward is top on Klopp’s transfer list which also comprises Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk, Hull’s Andrew Robertson and Werner’s Leipzig team-mate Naby Keita.

Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette is another forward linked with Liverpool after his potential move to Atletico Madrid fell through but a deal for Werner looks more likely.

The 21-year-old had earlier this year spoken of Liverpool:

“If you were to play at Anfield and hear the fans sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ it would certainly be something special,” said Werner in March of this year.
“England has a different feel, but I am also still young player,” he added.

Werner scored 21 goals in the German Bundesliga for Leipzig last season, making him the league’s fourth top scorer. His signing would provide more options for the Red’s attack which stuttered many times last season.
