Jurgen Klopp Reportedly Shows Interest in Gelson Martins


After securing the signature of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp still wants to inject more new legs in his team has he look to reinforce is squad ahead of next season and reportedly shown interest in Gelson Martins.

Liverpool are keen to bring the Sporting Lisbon winger to Anfield. The club have their initial offer of €40 million rejected by the Portuguese club but have submitted an improved bid of €50 million (£44M), according to A Bola.

Though the 22-year-old has a released clause of €60 million, the reports said the Red Devils are hoping their new offer should be able to convince Sporting to sell him.

Martins was impressive for Sporting last season, netting seven goals and providing assists for another 14 in 44 appearances across all competitions, and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Arsenal are also reported to be interested in him but as per the source, Liverpool is the only club that have made an offer for him.

The presence of Champions League football at Anfield may turn his towards the Merseysider. Martins signed a new contract in February and is contracted to Sporting until 2022.

He has six caps for Portugal and was part of the squad that featured in the Confederation Cup.
