Players on the same page after Payet’s exit – Reid

West Ham stalwart, Winston Reid believes the exit of Dimitri Payet has had a positive effect on the club, not the negative image being reported and has no criticism of his former teammate.

Reid, 28, has had another fantastic campaign in the heart of defence and will be looking to kick on as The Hammers look to climb up the log, after suffering what was an inconsistent start to the season in their new home, The Olympic Stadium.

West Ham brought in Jose Fonts from Southampton to offer defensive solidity while also bringing in Robert Snodgrass from Hull City, who has been given the task of replacing the now departed Frenchman.

Reid, however believes that the new players have brought in a new impetus to the club, and insists the club have moved on from the Payet saga, after the French international rocked the club by refusing to play in January and also angling for a move back to Olympique Marseille, the team he eventually joined.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Reid had this to say:

“I think getting a couple of new players in has freshened things up and everyone is on the same page,” “I don’t want to pinpoint the whole situation on Dimi, because I think that would be unfair.

He had his own issue which he had to deal with in his own way, which he did, and we’re past that now. He’s happy and we’re happy as well, so we’ll just move forward and do our best.” he added.

Reid has made 28 appearances for the East London side this season, scoring twice.
