Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly monitoring the progress of West Ham’s midfield general, Pedro Obiang. The former Sampdoria man has earned rave reviews for his battling displays in the base of the Hammers midfield, and is reportedly a wanted man at Anfield.
The 24-year-old Spaniard known for his excellent close control, deep lying play making abilities and ball winning abilities, and Klopp has identified him as one of the players to improve his current midfield setup with Emre Can stalling over a new deal.
After struggling in his West Ham career last season, Obiang has become a mainstay of Slaven Bilic’s side, who were initially atrocious at the beginning of the season, but results have improved in recent weeks with the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio impressing.
Klopp is looking to strengthen for next season, especially in midfield where his team are too soft, and Obiang fits the bill. Physically imposing, young and agile, he will offer balance to a duo of Lallana and Henderson.
Obiang is a good dribbler of the ball who primarily operates from the base of the midfield, Michael Carrick-esque, bit is technically versatile enough to perform any task asked of him in the middle of the park. He has made 26 appearances for the East London outfit, scoring once.
