Despite rejecting The Reds last summer for an emotional switch back to Dortmund, World Cup winner, Mario Gotze could be set for a stunning summer switch to Anfield as The Mirror via Rousingthekop reports that the 24-year-old is the subject of a £20m bid from Jurgen Klopp, who is looking to strengthen his squad with the prospect of Champions League football a possibility.
Klopp, who worked with the play-maker in his time in his previous spell at Borussia Dortmund has consistently been linked with a move for the player, and it seems this time will go ahead.
Klopp was recently quoted as saying by The Liverpool ECHO when asked about his club’s summer transfer activity.
“Not a lot of decisions have been already made at this point. Why should they at this stage? “But we are on the way. At the end, I’m sure we will have a really good squad.
“We already have a good squad and a few more good players will make it even better. There’s a good base.” he added.
Gotze has struggled to replicate his form for the Signal Iduna Park this season, making only nine league appearances and scoring just once which could prompt boss, Thomas Tuchel to sanction his move away from the club.
Gotze spurned the chance to move to Merseyside last year due to lack of Champions League football, but could be more willing for a move this year so as to reunite with Klopp, as the maverick German tactician was responsible for the best football he played in his career.
