Chelsea ready to thump AC Milan in race for highly rated Argentine

Antonio Conte is ready to build on what has been a successful season so far for Chelsea by looking ahead to what promises to be a busy transfer window for The Premier League leaders.

The Blues are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table with 12 matches left to be played, but are still keen on adding to what is a fantastic group of players.

Conte knows that the expectation to repeat this season’s performance next season will be massive, and is also aware of the Premier League winning curse which has come to light in recent seasons. The last 4 managers to have win the league were sacked the next season, meaning that the pressure to replicate standards may prove too much for even the best of managers.

To that end, Chelsea are ready to cough up to £21m for the services of Argentine centre-back Mateo Musacchio , according to report in Squawka. The defender, who currently plays for Spanish La Liga side, Villarreal has been one of the standout performers for The Yellow Submarines this season and is reportedly close to a transfer to Italian giants, AC Milan.

The Rossonerri are willing to pay the full fee of his rumoured release clause, meaning that Chelsea have to act quickly if they want to get their man.

The 26 year old is a very good defender and is able to bring out the ball from the back, an attribute Antonio Conte prefers in his defence, especially in a 3-4-3 formation, which has proved to be very successful this season.

Mussachio night be willing to move to Stamford Bridge as veteran defender, John Terry is probably on the way out and the Villarreal man may be needed to replace him.

Since joining the 2006 Champions League semifinalists in 2010, he has scored 7 goals in 172 league appearances.
