Arsenal are “close to completing” a deal to make Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette their record signing according to a reliable journalist. BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein claimed on his personal Twitter account on Saturday that the French striker will undergo a medical with the Gunners once a transfer fee has been agreed.

A record fee understood to be over €50 million has been quoted. Lyon president also tweeted on Sunday that a fee has not been agreed “yet” which might signify that an offer is on the table it’s just a matter of time.
Lacazette has consistently been linked with a move to the Emirates for the last two transfer windows. The 26 year-old who is tired of the Ligue-1 went through the Lyon academy and has played his entire professional career there scored 28 goals in 30 appearances last season. He has netted a century of goals in 203 Ligue-1 matches with Lyon who finished fourth last season. Lyon also missed out on a Champions league spot and will be playing in the Europa league with Arsenal.
Lacazette arrival is a threat to Olivier Giroud who will be displaced from the starting eleven. It will be a good addition for Arsenal as there will be option of attackers to pick from with Sanchez, Giroud, Walcott, Perez and Welbeck all capable of playing the same position.
