It seems the bad news just continues to pour in for Arsenal. On the cusp of another Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, the Gunners had been looking to the return of magical Spanish play maker, Santi Cazorla as they look to end the season on a flourish by winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League.

However, the club has been hit with the news that the 32-year-old former Malaga man won’t play again this season, after suffering a setback on his recuperation from ankle injury.

Cazorla had played just 11 times in all competitions prior to his ankle surgery in December, but won’t play anymore in this campaign.

The player had also missed the majority of last season due to injury worries as well, and without him at the base of the midfield, the club have struggled to orchestrate things from deep as the likes of Granit Xhaka, Elneny and Francis Coquelin all unable to perform the role the play maker performs.

He had been scheduled to return this month or early next month, but has suffered a relapse in his injury that will only increase the pressure on under-fire manager, Arsene Wenger.

The Spanish magician has had to readjust his playing style, operating more centrally and deeper instead of the attacking force of nature he was before.

He had been consistently linked to a move back to his homeland, but recently signed a 1 year extension to his current deal that will see him remain with the 13-time English champions till next summer.
