The odds of Leonardo Bonucci joining Antonio Conte at Chelsea had gathered momentum once again, according to reports. The Italy international defender is at a crossroads at his club, Juventus after falling out with manager, Max Allegri recently.

The pair had an angry exchange on the touchline near the end of the 4-1 drubbing of Palermo last weekend, and the centre-back stormed down the tunnel at the end of the match without acknowledging the supporters or his manager.

Allegri decided not to name him in the squad for Wednesday’s crucial away game at Porto, a game The Old Lady won courtesy of goals from substitutes, Marko Pjaca and Daniel Alves.

His demeanor in the stands pointed to a fact that all is not well with Bonucci at the Juventus stadium, which may prompt Chelsea to make a bid for him in the summer.

Antonio Conte, the Chelsea manager was really interested in bringing the defender to Stamford Bridge having worked with him in Turin, but both clubs were far in their valuation of the player, and the deal collapsed. Chelsea signed former player, David Luiz in his stead, with the 29-year-old settling back to life at Chelsea with relative ease.

A deal in the region of £40-45m may be enough to test Juve’s resolve, as Bonucci had reportedly grown tired of his manager’s methods and will be willing to get a reunion with his former manager in West London. Bonucci is a top class centre back with ball playing abilities, excellent anticipation and ball winning capabilities.
