A club source has revealed that Daley Blind is fighting for his future as he is set to be part of a massive clear out at Old Trafford.
The 26 year old versatile defender joined the 20-time English giants in the summer of 2014 after a great World Cup with The Netherlands, but has struggled to impose himself on the first team this season.
Blind, the son of legendary Dutch footballer, Danny has not impressed manager, Jose Mourinho who believes his versatility has proved to be a major stumbling block, instead of a strength. Blind can play at centre back, left back and also at defensive midfield.
His current deal at The Theatre of Dreams runs out in 2018, and there have been no talks about a contract extension. The club are planning transfer activity in the summer as the likes of Victor Lindelof and Antoine Griezmann are expected to arrive, and freeing Blind’s £130k a week deal could help their wage structure. The club source, who was anonymous, said as quoted the Sun:
“Blind is one of the men set to go early this summer. He has a while left on his deal. “There are no plans to give him a new contract though. He’s running out of time to impress the boss.
“He has been very versatile for the club and a good servant, but Jose thinks he has better options now.” he added.
Blind has made 29 appearances for The Red Devils this season, and if listed by the club, the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan will be queuing up for his signature as he suits the style of play in the Serie A.
