Liverpool winger, Sadio Mane believes Liverpool still have what it takes to still compete for the Champions League places after defeating Tottenham last weekend, according to report from Daily Post.
The 24 year old Senegalese, who scored twice against Tottenham believes it is time for the Reds to step out of their rot and stand up to be counted. Mane was particularly in devastating form against Pochettino’s men, hitting a brace to take his tally to 11 for this season.
The win put the Reds on fifth, though just three points behind Manchester City, who are curently placed second.
Speaking recently, he said, It’s too early to speak about what’s going to happen but the confidence is back in this team now:
“We can’t change that but the motivation is there to keep improving and get whatever we can from the rest of the season.”
“We have to take it game by game and try to win every game between now and the end of the season. “We have time to rest and time to train so we need to use that.” he added.
Mane has been very influential since joining the Reds in a £32m deal last summer from Southampton and his absence was keenly felt when he joined up with his Senegal teammates for the African Cup of Nations. He has scored 11 times and created 4 more to help Liverpool to 5th on the Premier League table.
